Look Good And Stay Dry

New York today, a little chilly and quite damp. As we walked down 45th St towards the Parade, an entrepreneur was trying to sell us umbrellas. 'Umbrellas, paraguas, look good and stay dry!'. Not a bad slogan.

I'd never seen the Parade for myself, and would not have known about it had Donna not turned on the tv without fail the last few years on Thanksgiving morning. Sandwiched amongst thousands of dripping umbrellas (no truth in advertising - the people holding them looked neither good nor dry) and frustrated pram-pushing parents, we craned our necks to glimpse the passing spectacle. As the floats came by, tethered to the earth by a small crowd of walkers, I was mildly disappointed that they barely grazed our heads, having imagined them to float high above the crowds. A few accidents in recent years have led to them being pulled closer to the ground, where they can be better controlled.

We're staying at the intersection of Soho, Little Italy and Chinatown, in Eva's new apartment. Aside from being a close family friend, she's one of my four or five regular blog readers, and I repay her by taking up floor space and eating her food. Thanks, Eva!

Our little turkey is brining away and should be ready for roasting soon.

Photos to follow next week...
